This week on the Magnet Minute, Amy shares some digital video events and conferences for 2013. If you’re interested in learning more about this form of content and the talent that’s already in the space, these events are highly recommended for you to check out.
We kicked off 2013 with the IAWTV Awards at the Consumer Electronics Show. The award ceremony credited great digital video creators according to votes from IAWTV members. Check out our covereage from the event here.
Another award ceremony for digital video is coming up this weekend and that is the Streamys. They will award content creators in 30 different categories, two of them being voted on by the people. If you’re not in the L.A. area you can, of course, live stream the Streamys by going to Streamys.org.
Switching gears from awards to business education, South by Southwest Interactive will be sharing a lot of video content creation information this March. The conference takes place in Austin, Texas and is among the largest new media events with speakers in every facet of the industry. There will be a lot of great information about video this year with huge names in digital entertainment to share their strategies.
Soon after SxSW is business- and fan-attended conference, Playlist Live. Taking place in Orlando, Florida for it’s 3rd year, video creators—mainly from YouTube—will discuss their secrets and strategies for a business track on the first day. The following days are more of an expo set up with live performances, third-party vendors, and web celebrity meetups.
Rounding out the big video events of the year is Vidcon. In it’s 4th year of both business-related tracks and fan-driven events, the attendance is doubling every year and is the biggest digital video event. Think Playlist Live but on a much larger scale. They will be at Anaheim Convention Center for the second year in a row.
