This week on the Magnet Minute, Amy recaps BlogWorld and New Media Expo 2012.
The three-day event took place for the second time at the Jacob Javits Convention Center in New York City. The show’s founders were excited to announce a few changes with the program including a brand new name. The conference will no longer be referred to as BlogWorld, but New Media Expo. The first event with its new name will take place in January 2013 in Las Vegas.
The NYC expo based a great deal of content on podcasting this year, as the industry has been taking a serious uptick in activity in recent years. With a great deal of podcast platforms available to help with production and the lack of a need for a video-ready face, it’s clear why this form of multimedia is drawing in the numbers. If podcasting sounds like a good option for your content marketing campaign, research some of the roundup posts that have been circulating from the conference for some really great nuggets of information.
There were also a lot of interesting brands in the exhibit hall. Some who are there every year (WordPress, Rackspace, etc.), and some who were brand new. One of the newbies was Rawporter, an app that helps you send users on an assignment to get the exact photo or video you need for your content at a cheap price. With the way cell phones can create high-quality multimedia, there’s no reason you can’t have someone easily help you get the shot you need, and Rawporter does just that. Check out the video interview and then download the app to try for yourself.
