Viola Davis releases a memoir
HarperCollins publishing imprint HarperOne and Magnet partnered to develop a live virtual event for the release of Viola Davis’s much anticipated memoir, Finding Me.
The elements
Magnet worked in collaboration with HarperOne to create a 45-minute run of show that included a conversation between Viola Davis and former Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms. The event also included a live audience Q&A with the award-winning actor. Magnet managed all the technical requirements involved with producing a live virtual event, from directing, control boarding, and executing quality control.
The Magnet team also created a landing page and promotional assets, including a video that featured user-generated videos submitted by young women attesting to the influence and inspiration of Davis. This reel introduced the live event.
Attendees were invited based on their book preorder purchases at select Black-owned bookstores. The event achieved HarperOne’s highest attendance rate of over 900 guests. Due to the high volume of requests, Magnet created a landing page that hosted an event replay for 24 hours following.
The memoir also debuted on the New York Times Best Seller list.
